Apple Game: Find sums of 10 and clear the board

The Apple Game is a free number puzzle with one clear goal: select a rectangle of apples whose numbers add up to exactly 10. Your board contains 170 apples arranged in 17 columns and 10 rows. You have 120 seconds to clear as many as possible. Choose a quick pair such as 4 and 6, or collect several smaller numbers in one selection. this website runs directly in your browser, so you can start without an account, an installation or a download.

How to play

Draw a rectangle, then release

Press on the board and drag across the apples you want to select. Every remaining apple inside the rectangle counts toward the total, including apples between the corners. A green selection means the total is exactly 10. Release to remove those apples and receive one point for each apple cleared. A selection with any other total stays on the board. Invalid selections do not deduct points, but the clock keeps running, so checking the complete rectangle is useful.

Turn empty spaces into opportunities

Removed apples leave empty cells worth zero. You can select across those gaps to connect numbers that are farther apart. This changes the shape of the puzzle as you play: a pair that was blocked by extra apples may become available later. Look along both rows and columns rather than focusing only on nearby neighbors. Before releasing a wide rectangle, check its middle carefully. One overlooked apple can change a promising total into an invalid selection.

Choose Classic or a daily board

Classic starts with a fresh random board whenever you begin a new round. Daily uses a starting board determined by the UTC date, making it useful for repeating the same puzzle and comparing your own approaches. The daily board changes at midnight UTC. Both modes use the same 120-second timer and one-point-per-apple scoring. Starting boards are assembled from removable pairs. Your later choices can still leave a position with no valid rectangle, so a perfect clear is a challenge rather than a guarantee.

Strategy & tips

Build a steady scanning habit

Work from left to right or top to bottom instead of dragging at random. Clear obvious matches, then revisit the empty spaces they create. A group of 2, 3 and 5 earns three points, while a 4 and 6 pair earns two. Larger groups can improve your score with fewer moves, but spending too long hunting for them can cost more time than it saves. Prefer combinations you can identify accurately, and watch how each removal changes neighboring possibilities.

Use hints and pauses thoughtfully

The hint button highlights one currently valid rectangle without removing it. You can inspect it and select it yourself. If no move remains, the message tells you to start another board. Pause hides the apples and stops the timer; Resume returns you to the same position. Leaving the browser tab automatically pauses a running game. New game discards the current round and resets the score, while your saved best score remains available on this browser.

Play with touch, mouse or a keyboard

On a phone or tablet, drag a finger across the board and release on your chosen rectangle. The board fits the screen, with no horizontal page scrolling. Keyboard players can focus the board, move with the arrow keys, hold Shift while moving to expand a selection, and press Enter to clear it. Escape cancels a selection. Sound can be muted at any time. Light and dark modes let you choose a comfortable background, and both settings are remembered locally.
